Chili in bread bowl

Food for a cold night or football party. Definitely comfort food.

1 lb of extra lean ground turkey

1 medium onion

2cloves garlic

6 fresh mushrooms

1/2 can of pink beans

1 jar of low sodium spaghetti sauce

1 packet of Truvia

1 sour dough 5 grains bread bowl

Chili powder

Basil powder or fresh

Curry powder

Sprinkle of Parmesan

Spinach for garnish

Sauté the onion, garlic and mushrooms until soft and add ground turkey. Brown the meat and add the sauce. For texture preference, you can add tomato purée or dice. Add the spices and simmer until you have the desired thickness.

You can serve this dish in a 5 grain bread bowl but if you are gluten intolerant, use organic brown rice. Display the rice in a circle on the plate and put the chili inside the halo and garnish with fresh spinach or parsley.

Chili alone is low in fat and calorie, sodium and sugar. Remember food quantity. A female serving size is 3-4 ounces and male approximately double unless you weight less than 190 lbs.
